Pregnant...

and 38 weeks now!  We're closing in on the finish line!

I feel grateful that this pregnancy has been fairly easy, thanks to Maggie and Grant who have kept me busy enough to not notice the usual pains and woes of pregnancy.  Rest assured, I always remember I'm pregnant by the end of the day when I climb into bed and the ache and exhaustion take over!

On Saturday, I went to the maternity orientation tour at the hospital. Even though this is my third child (and I was the only woman there without her husband) I wanted to check out the maternity floor since I haven't delivered at this hospital before. I'm glad I did cause it got me REALLY excited to have this baby! Just seeing and hearing about what to expect took me back to what an exciting event is about to take place! Up to this point, I've just been trying to enjoy my sleep, but now that I'm not sleeping well at night anymore, she may as well come!  Thank goodness I have my induction scheduled, so check back soon for an announcement!

I can't believe I'm about to admit what my craving has been for this pregnancy.  It's naughty, I'm telling you!  Hostess Cupcakes!  Those killer little cakes will make me suffer the repercussions of this craving when I wonder why the "baby weight" hasn't dropped!  I don't usually buy junk like that, but one of Cory's brothers brought a box of them over here one night and then I was doomed!  Tsk, tsk, tsk!  I didn't really have any cravings with Maggie.  I was just repulsed by the smell of In-N-Out (thank goodness we got over that!) and then with Grant I was craving McDonald's Hot Fudge Sundaes all the time.  Cory was a good husband and always happily responded to my needs on that one!  Well, he also doesn't seem to mind the endless supply of Hostess Cupcakes, either!

Now, excuse me while I climb up on my soapbox... but here's my biggest pet peeve about ME being pregnant. People, people, people... don't EVER tell a pregnant woman how big she is! I'm telling you, this has been a problem with me with all of my pregnancies! With Maggie, I was young and niave, so when the lady at the deli counter would always remark at how large I was (even WAY before I was due) I would indulge her with a smile and a curteousy laugh. By the time I was pregnant with Grant and the check out lady at the grocery store would make similar comments, I would just glare. But watch out people, I haven't been the least bit amused or kind this time around. Here's the latest: I was 36 weeks doing a little shopping at Michael's. A sweet, little old lady (who should know better!) notices my pregnant belly.

Little old lady: "OH MY! You must be due any day now!"

Me: "nope. still got a month to go!" (Conversation should have ended here and little old lady should have been on her way... feeling embarrassed... but no, she just HAD to persist...)

Little old lady: "REALLY? Well, you must be having twins then!"

Me: (Serioulsy? Am I hearing this again from a complete stranger who has no tact! I don't care if she's sweet and innocent, it's just plain rude! Third time around, she's about to get it from me!) I exhale through my nose, roll my eyes and shake my head at her with an emphatic "NOOOO!"

Mean old lady: (still not "getting it!") "Oh wow! What a big baby!"

Me: complete silence. (Okay lady, move along now, you've made your point!)

So, some might interpret this as me being rude but come on people! I've heard this so many times and I'm sure this very conversation breaks the rules of etiquette in some book somewhere. I mean, I would never make comments like this. EVER! Not even to the obvious woman holding triplets! You just DON'T! Take it from me... being pregnant doesn't give the general public permission to comment on a woman's size! Some people aren't blessed with tiny frames like the mean, old lady at Michael's. We all hold them differently. I hold mine high and straight out cause I don't have a waist, so there's no where else to go. (Reference photo above... nope, not holding twins!)  So, I don't know what to say anymore. I better not have a fourth cause I might resort to pushing people down next time.

Watch out Maggie and Grant... here comes your little sister!

Maggie is really excited about her baby sister.  She has the due date circled on her calendar in her room.  Poor thing has really had her heart set on naming her "Sally", but I think she is finally warming up to the idea of the name we've been throwing around here lately.  Wanna know what it is?  You'll just have to wait.

Grant... refers to my belly as the "baby" but I think he truly has no idea what is about to come along and dethrone him!

OH!  And thanks for all the tips on infant car seat covers.  I found a cute one on an ebay store and it's already arrived.  A gift from Grandma!

Can you believe he's almost a big brother now?

Valentine's Day

My last turn teaching Joy School.  I had the girls right before Valentine's Day and so we had a "party" on one of days.  It was fun!

They decorated cupcakes to their little hearts' desires!

Very cute, Maggie!
(Right before she proceeded to lick all the frosting off and throw the cake away... of course!)

They decorated these cute Valentine mailboxes to receive their Valentines in.

I'll miss having these girls over at my house for Joy School!

Girlfriends!

Where can I find a cute YET affordable infant car seat cover?  I'm finding a lot of cute ones on the internet but they cost as much as it would cost to just replace the dang car seat with a new one.  Any suggestions?
XOXO

Fact... according to Cory

Me: Cory, do you think babies cry in the uterus?

Cory: nope.

Me: Then why do they start crying as soon as they're born?

Cory: cause the doctor spanks them.

K is for Krispy Kreme

The last unit I taught in Joy School was on Order and Goal setting... pretty serious stuff.  Yeah, we're not messing around here!  Plus the letter of week was K.  So, what better place to take the girls on a field trip than to Krispy Kreme so that they can see the order of making donuts.  HA!  So awesome!

Fabulous idea!  Krispy Kreme donuts are the best!  I'm not kidding!

I love Krispy Kreme.  I just wish they would stop closing all their locations!

Grant totally got into it while sporting the KK hat!

I totally recommend a field trip to Krispy Kreme.  At the end of the tour, they gave us 2 dozen free donuts and a gallon of milk!  I was in heaven!  (I think I ate 4... 2 for me, 2 for the baby)

So, I had each of the girls set a goal and Maggie's goal was to learn how to tie her shoes.  I was so impressed!  I mean, don't put it beyond a 4 year old to set a goal and accomplish it... she did it!  Way to go, Maggie!
