Practice run

What a bummer! Miss Zoey woke up early on the day of her scheduled surgery with a cough! It was just a little one but enough for me to figure that her surgery would get cancelled! We went to the hospital anyway. I don't know why... I guess I was in denial... or was hoping that the cough would go away. Maybe there was a chance she could still have surgery. She really didn't even cough all the way to the hospital, but sure enough the anesthesiologist felt that it was better to be safe than sorry and hold off till she was 100% healthy! Boy, are we grateful we postponed! The last couple of days, she's been SO SICK! Cough, fever, runny nose. How terrible it would have been to have a bad cold on top of recovering from surgery. What a let down for me though. So much preparation, so many emotions, so many people praying and thinking of her. And we will do it all again next month, hopefully! At least we got a good practice run for her real day of surgery. Things are sure to go much smoother next time...

I still feel so bad for all of you, to go through all of that. But you are right, what a blessing! Good perspective!

that stinks that she's been so sick. i guess it is a good thing you guys didn't come over after all. a little cough and runny nose is one thing--a fever and all that is another. i hope she gets feeling better soon! give her a kiss from me!

What a great thing you noticed it!! That morning all that showed was a little cough? Most of us wouldn't even notice! Who knows what kind of post-op surgical complications she would have had with an infection already brewing in her airway! Great job, Nurse!

Oh man...so sorry. We have had some very sick kiddos (and even Mason has pneumonia) this past week.

Hope Miss Zoey feels better soon...thinking of you guys!

Sweet little Zoey.... I am so sorry she has been sick - that is so not fun! But it is better for all of you - that is for sure! I'm happy that she will be able to have the surgery from good doctors! We will be praying for her too! Love you guys!!!
